Spending time with your newborn allows you to quickly establish a relationship, one that can help you build the attachment bond that’s necessary for your child’s development. For this to happen, your baby needs to get to know you, and you need to get to know your baby.
Find time to be together just the two of you. You can enjoy skin-to-skin contact (see Skin‑to‑skin contact), take her for a walk in the baby carrier or stroller, or give her her bath, for example. Moments like these allow you to develop your own special father-child relationship and gain confidence in your abilities.
