Services for victims of sexual violence

Some of the listed resources do not specialize in providing services to victims of sexual violence, but can still offer assistance and support.

Sexual Violence Helpline

Sexual Violence Helpline is a free and confidential listening, support and referral service for anyone affected by sexual violence. It is the main resource for victims of sexual assault, sexual exploitation and any other form of sexual violence in Quebec.

SOS violence conjugale

SOS violence conjugale provides free and direct access to information, support, confidential referral services or shelter to victims of intimate partner violence and can provide support to victims of sexual assault.

Sexual Assault Help Centers (CALACS)

CALACS provide direct assistance and support to victims of sexual assault and their loved ones. The centers also offer prevention, awareness, educational and advocacy services.

Crime Victims Assistance Centres (CAVAC)

CAVACs are assistance centers that offer free and confidential front-line services to anyone who has been a victim of a crime and to their relatives, as well as to witnesses of a crime. The CAVACs cooperate with legal, health and social services workers and community organizations.

Info-Social 811 

​Info-Social 811 is a free and confidential telephone consultation service available to all Quebec residents. It allows you to quickly reach a psychosocial worker in the event of a psychosocial problem.

Community organizations across Quebec

In Quebec, various organizations offer psychosocial assistance to victims of sexual assault (information on available resources, support, legal process, psychological counselling, recovery, etc.).

Integrated health and social services centres (CISSS) and integrated university health and social services centres (CIUSSS)

The CISSS and CIUSSS are reference points where people can go in the event of health or psychosocial problems and where they can receive appropriate services or be referred to another resource within the territorial service network.

Help and Information Center on Sexual Harassment in the Workplace (GAIHST)

GAISHT is an organization in Quebec dedicated to preventing sexual harassment in the workplace. It provides support to individuals seeking assistance and guidance in defending their right to a workplace free of sexual or psychological harassment.

Regroupement des organismes québécois pour hommes agressés sexuellement (ROQHAS)

Since October 2022, ROQHAS represents non-profit community organizations offering services to sexually assaulted men in Quebec to promote the funding, improvement and development of services adapted to the needs and realities of sexually assaulted men.

À cœur d’homme

In French only

À cœur d'homme is an organization of 31 independent community organizations throughout Quebec that help men who are experiencing violent behaviour in a relationship or family context.

Ça suffit

Ça suffit provides free and confidential support services to reduce emotional suffering associated with sexual fantasies towards minors.

Community organizations across Quebec

In Quebec, various organizations offer support, peer support or treatment services for people who have committed or are concerned about committing a sexual assault.

Regroupement des intervenants en matière d’agression sexuelle (RIMAS)

RIMAS is a network of organizations, professionals, researchers and students from various areas of Quebec who are concerned by the issue of sexual offences. It provides a list of resources offering services to people affected by the problem of sexual assault.

Services for youth or their parents

NeedHelpNow.ca

NeedHelpNow.ca provides practical solutions for youth (aged 13-17) to block the spread of sexual pictures or videos or to remove them from a website. It also provides resources for parents and trusted adults who has been negatively impacted by a self/peer exploitation incident.

Cybertip.ca

Cybertip.ca collects and processes public reports of online child sexual exploitation and abuse. It then refers the relevant information to police or child protection agencies. It also provides Canadians with an information, resource and referral center to help protect themselves and their children online.

Director of Youth Protection (DYP) 

Anyone who believes or has reason to believe that a minor (under the age of 18) is being sexually assaulted has an obligation to report it immediately to the Director of Youth Protection (DYP) in their region. The DYP will assess the report and, if retained, will determine the services to be implemented to support the child and his or her family.

This report is confidential and can be done at any time of the day or night. If the situation requires it, professionals from the youth centers under the responsibility of the DYP can intervene urgently and ensure the child's safety by providing services and resources outside the family.

Marie-Vincent Foundation

The Marie-Vincent Foundation is a support organization for sexually and physically abused children and adolescents, offering all services they need under one roof.

Kids Help Phone

Kids Help Phone is a Canadian service that provides bilingual (English and French), free and confidential mental health support to young people, by phone or text.

Tel-jeunes

Tel-jeunes is a free and confidential resource for young people aged 20 and under in Quebec. The professional counsellors help young people gain more control over their lives and choose behaviours that will help them meet their needs.

ESPACE organizations

ESPACE organizations offer a variety of violence prevention workshops for children aged 3 to 12 and adults in their lives, as well as telephone counselling.

Interligne

Interligne is an organization that provides listening and support services to people concerned about sexual and gender diversity. It also provides the Alix service, which offers information and awareness tools, support resources and courses of action for people of sexual and gender diversity who are victims of violence.

The Elder Mistreatment Helpline

The Elder Mistreatment Helpline offers a confidential, bilingual and free listening, crisis intervention and specialized referral service for elder mistreatment.

Suicide Prevention Services

Suicide.ca

Suicide.ca is a professional and confidential help service specialized in suicide prevention. It provides information and assistance to people with suicidal thoughts and behaviours, to those who are worried about a loved one or who are bereaved by suicide, as well as to those working with vulnerable populations.

Legal services

To report a sexual assault, go directly to a police station for assistance.

Rebâtir

Rebâtir.ca provides free and confidential legal consultation services for victims of sexual and domestic violence. These services are provided by legal aid lawyers.

Community Justice Centers

The Community Justice Centers, located in 11 regions of Quebec, provide free and confidential legal information services to all citizens. The mission of the Community Justice Centers is to promote access to justice by encouraging citizen participation through information, support and referral services offered in complementarity with existing resources.
