Work-related respiratory diseases

The Respiratory diseases team's main mandate is to monitor occupational lung diseases and the exposures that cause them. This monitoring is carried out to ensure the prevention of these diseases and to protect the health of workers.

A significant part of the activities focuses on the monitoring of asbestos exposure, its related diseases and their impact on the workers' health and on the population. Given the public health issues related to this contaminant and the many requests for consultations on the subject, from Quebec and abroad, the INSPQ has a cutting-edge expertise in this field.

Occupational asthma and diseases related to beryllium exposure are also under monitoring.

In addition to monitoring activities, the team provides expert advice, information-communication and training activities.
