Allergies and intolerances in newborns

Babies cannot be allergic to their mother’s milk. In rare situations, they may react to certain proteins ingested by their mothers and passed on through breast milk (see Breastfed babies and allergies).

In rare cases, babies fed with commercial infant formulas may be intolerant to them and require a special formula. A doctor can recommend a formula adapted to your baby’s needs.
